Jaipur, July 10 (UNI) In its first full Budget presented in the legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the Rajasthan government headed by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal focused on health and infrastructure besides offering relief to the middle class by cutting tax on fuels - compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) -
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, while presenting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government's Budget for 2024-25, cut the prevailing value added tax (VAT) on CNG and PNG from 14.5 per cent to 10 per cent.
Apart from announcing the construction of nine greenfield expressways for 2,750 km, the Finance Minister also announced several people-friendly measures like concession on stamp duty and registration fee on properties registered in the name of women.
Diya Kumari also announced an expenditure of Rs 15,000 crore for supplying tap water to 25 lakh rural houses.
Another Rs 27,000 crore were sanctioned for the health sector and electrification of rural houses.
According to the Budget presented by the Finance Minister, the fiscal deficit for 2024-25 is estimated to be 3.93 per cent of GSDP.
Diya Kumari started reading the budget speech at 11 am and ended at 1.52 pm.
Complete exemption has been given on stamp duty and registration fee on settlement deed executed in favour of wife, daughter-in-law, grandson, granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Similarly, stamp duty has been reduced to two percent on the exchange of two or more non-agricultural properties under joint ownership of family members.
Exemption has been given on stamp duty as well as registration fee when free housing is given to the wives of martyrs of soldiers and paramilitary forces, their sons, daughters or parents by the government, private institution or a particular person.
Provision has been made for exemption of stamp duty on GST amount on under-construction plots and buildings.
