SSL of RSP registers an all time best monthly production of HR plates in July

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1 (UNI) The Sheet Shearing Line (SSL) unit of the state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved an all-time best monthly production of 22,646 tonnes of HR Plates in July 2024.

RSP sources said the July production of HR plates has surpassed the previous best of 17,729 tonnes made in June 2024, registering an impressive growth of 28 percent.

The SSL also achieved a record monthly dispatch of 22,058 tonnes in July 2024, marking a 35 percent increase from the previous best of 16,279 tonnes registered in June 2024.

The SSL line at HSM-2, installed and commissioned by a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation and L&T under the supervision of the Projects Department, is laced with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced automation, including auto shearing and handling capabilities.

The shearing line features an automatic sheet strapping machine and an automatic sheet paint marking machine, ensuring high efficiency and precision in operations.

Additionally, the line is equipped with advanced Yard Mapping with Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Crane Location Tracking System (CLTS) enabled cranes, enhancing the overall operational effectiveness.
The Sheet Shearing Line is currently shearing a diverse product range with lengths between 5 to 12.5 meters, widths ranging from 1250 to 2000 mm, and thicknesses from 5 to 20 mm, demonstrating its versatility and capability to meet varied customer requirements.

Chief General Manager of HSM-2 R K Muduli, attributed the success to the dedicated efforts of the HSM-2 team and the continuous support from the top management.

He expressed confidence that the team will leave no stone unturned to surpass the set targets.
