Sensex falls by 53.49  points

Mumbai, June 10 (UNI) Snapping its upward streak of the last fourth session, the BSE Sensex on Tuesday fell by 53.49 pts to settle at 82,391.72 as profit booking was seen in financial, realty, telecom and bank stocks.

Equity benchmarks traded within a narrow range as investors adopted a cautious approach following the recent rally driven by favourable domestic macroeconomic indicators and concerns over stretched valuations. However, the overall sentiments remained on the positive side on account of optimism around US-China trade negotiations.



However, National Stock Exchange (NSE) was marginally up by 1.05 pts to 25,104.25. Sensex recorded the day high of 82,680.79 and recorded day low of 82,240.40

The NSE registered a day's high at 25,196.05 and a day's low at 25055.45

Sectoral Indices that rose today were IT by 1.58 pc, Utilities by 1.11 pc FMCG by 0.33 pc, Health care by 0.45 pc, industrial by 0.30 pc, capital goods by 0.21 pcm, power by 0.95 pc, consumer durables by 0.44 pc, tech by 0.87 pc, metal by 0.11 pc and oil & gas by 0.07 pc

Sectoral indices that fell today were realty by 1.18 pc, bankex by 0.13 pc, auto by 0.08 pc, telecom by 0.55 pc, financial by 0.46 pc and energy by 0.11 pc

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. Mid-cap rose 0.04 pc and the small-cap moved up by 0.33 pc.

In 30 scrips,14 advanced while 16 declined.

Top Five loser were Asian paints by 1.39 pc to Rs 2,217.00, Maruti by 1.30 pc to Rs 12,473.75, Bajaj Finance by 1.27 pc to Rs 9,486.10, Tata Steel by 0.95 pc to Rs 115.75, Bajaj Finserver 0.87 pc to Rs 1,999.45

Top five gainers were Tech Mahindra by 2.27 pc to Rs 1,614.45, Tata motors by 2.12 pc to Rs 733.00, Infosys by 1.46 pc to Rs 1,595.50, HCL Tech by 1.30 pc to Rs 1,670.80 and Ultra tech by 1.16 pc to Rs 11,389.90

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,245 shares rose and 1,790 shares fell. A total of 137 shares were unchanged.

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed Tuesday as investors awaited further details on the U.S.-China trade talks, which were slated to continue for a second day.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 pared earlier gains to end the day 0.32 pc higher at 38.211.51, while the broader Topix index was flat at 2,786.24.

South Korean markets rose for the fifth consecutive session. The Kospi index advanced 0.56 pc to end the day at 2,871.85, while the small-cap Kosdaq added 0.91 pc to 771.20.
