Bhubaneswar, May 15 (UNI) Neeraj Chopra, the star Indian javelin thrower, clinched the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the esteemed Federation Cup 2024.
The competition unfolded amidst electrifying cheers at the renowned Kalinga Stadium located here on Wednesday.
Neeraj's stellar performance showcased a throw measuring an impressive 82.27 meters, narrowly surpassing his closest rival, DP Manu, whose throw reached 82.06 meters. This victory marked Neeraj's triumphant return to the Federation Cup following his gold-winning feat in March 2021, after a three-year hiatus from Indian events.
While Neeraj basked in the glory of his remarkable achievement, attention also turned to Kishore Jena from Odisha, whose performance fell short of expectations. Despite his earnest endeavors, Kishore's best throw measured 75.49 meters, leaving him off the podium.
Kishore's struggles extended to his recent outing at the Doha Diamond League 2024, where he secured a modest ninth position. Undeterred by these challenges, Kishore remains steadfast as he prepares to represent India in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024, aiming to showcase his prowess on the global stage.
The Federation Cup 2024 continues to enthrall audiences with its exhibition of exceptional talent and fierce competition, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and determination on the grand stage.
