Illegal sand mining in Bengal disturbing ecological balance and waterways in country: Suvendu

Kolkata, June 10 (UNI) Leader of opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday alleged that large-scale illegal sand mining across the state was leading to disruption of the ecological balance as well as disturbing the waterways in the country.
" I have complained about the sand mining in West Bengal to the Ministry of Environment," Adhikari told reporters here. He said he had complained to Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, who listened to his concern and assured him that his ministry would look into the matter and take necessary steps.
He alleged that sand mining is a syndicated business run under the dispensation of ruling TMC leaders across the state, which was leading to create ecological imbalance as well as disrupting the river's natural course and damaging waterways of the country.
