Bangladesh CA Md Yunus urges public patience as interim govt deliberates ban on Awami League

Dhaka, May 9 (UNI) Amid growing demands by a key student's body and Islamic groups for a ban on the Awami League, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammed Yunus asked for patience as the interim government seriously deliberates banning the party of ex-PM Sheikh Hasina over allegations of authoritarianism and criminal activities.
According to a statement posted on the interim government's verified Facebook page, the government has already established communication with political parties and will reach a swift decision through discussions with them.
"The government is taking into account the United Nations report concerning criminal activities by leaders and supporters of the Awami League," the statement said, urging everyone to "remain patient" until then, The Daily Star reported.
