Akhilesh to resign from Karhal assembly seat

Etawah (UP), June 11 (UNI) After getting elected to Lok Sabha from Kannauj Parliamentary constituency, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav will resign from Karhal assembly seat in Mainpuri district.
Akhilesh made a formal announcement in this regard after discussing it with the party workers in Saifai. He said that constitutionally after being elected from two seats, any representative has to resign from one seat.
It may be mentioned that Akhilesh won from Kannauj seat by a margin of more than 1.70 lakh votes by defeating his nearest rival and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Subrat Pathak in recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
