Students protest alleged irregularities in appointment of teachers in Manipur

Imphal, Jun 13 (UNI) A large number of students on Thursday protested against alleged irregularities in the recruitment of pre-primary school teachers.
The students, mostly members of the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) tried to lock the offices of the Directorate of Education(S) and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) which was stopped by police.
Manipur police personnel detained three students as they were shouting slogans demanding the removal of the Director of Education for the irregularities. DESAM members said the ongoing recruitment process contravened the NEP-2020 guidelines for the appointment of teachers.
