Serious water crisis hit Maharashtra :Sharada Pawar

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) on Friday said a serious water crisis has hit the state, and appealed to
work unitedly to overcome the situation.
Addressing a Press conference here, Pawar said due to lack of rain drought situation prevailed in 1500 revenue circles and 40 taluks of the state.
Expressing concern over the drought situation in the state, Pawar said though the drinking water problem has become serious, the government is not paying attention to it.
Pawar said storage of water in various dams is very alarming.
while in some dams like the Ujani and Majalgaon dam there is no water in the others dams in Marathwada the water level ranges from 5 to 29 per cent.
He said there will be no change in the situation till July. If attention is not given in time, the situation will become serious.
This year, 10,572 affected villages are getting water through water tankers in the state, compared to 1,108 villages last year. This shows the seriousness of the situation.
Pawar demanded state government to start employment guarantee works in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Pune, a moratorium on debt recovery. free uninterrupted power supply and relaxation in MNREGA rules .
He also demanded that Orchards should be supplied water by tankers. Exam fees should be waived for school student and supported the state government to relax the MCC.
