Oppn protest over Nagpur violence, demands ouster of BJP minister Nitesh Rane

Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) The opposition in Maharashtra on Tuesday protested outside the Maharashtra Legislative building over Nagpur violence, demanding the ouster of BJP minister Nitesh Rane, who allegedly made provocative statements which led to the violence in the city.
Meanwhile, during the unrest, 45 vehicles were vandalised.
District guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule assured strict action against those responsible and stated that social media accounts are being monitored to track those spreading rumours.
Minister Sanjay Shirsat, while commenting on the violence, said that "Maha Vikas Aghadi is behind the violence in Nagpur... Why is any Muslim not coming forward from the place where the grave is? Even Muslims don't want the grave to be there... They (the opposition) are doing this to show that they stand with Muslims, but they don't realise that even Muslims don't want that..."
Shiv Sena MLA Manisha Kayande condemned the Nagpur violence and demanded strict action against those spreading rumours. She stated, "We condemn the Nagpur violence. Those who spread rumours should be put behind bars and punished. Such a thing will not be tolerated in Maharashtra.
Raje Mudhoji Bhosale, a member of the royal family of Nagpur, said, “It is a very sad incident. Such an incident never happened in Nagpur’s history. Those responsible should be punished, and the administration should also ensure that such an incident never happens again.
'Whatever happened in the morning was not taken seriously, which resulted in such a big incident in the evening. Several vehicles were damaged, and houses were attacked. I don’t think locals were involved in this. Some antisocial elements, along with outsiders, must have been involved,' he added.
