Odisha: 35,000 security forces deployed for election in 6 LS & 42 Assembly constituencies

Bhubaneswar, May 24 (UNI) About 35,000 security forces, including 21 companies of CAPF, 106 platoons of Odisha Armed Police, and 19,865 civil police personnel, have been deployed in six Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly constituencies in Odisha going to polls on Saturday, DGP Arun Sarangi said.
Election to 9 parliamentary constituencies and 63 assembly constituencies were completed in the last two phases on May 13 and May 20 in a peaceful manner without any serious or alarming incidents, Sarangi said.
Addressing newsmen here, the DGP said there was a massive voter turnout during the last two phases for both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state. The re-poll in two booths under the Kantamala Assembly constituency of Boudh district was held peacefully on May 23.
