India's Covid cases below 6k; three deaths in past 24 hrs

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) India’s active Covid-19 caseload fell to 5,976 on Thursday, marking the fourth straight day of decline, down from 6,483 the previous day, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
In the last 24 hours, three Covid-related deaths were reported—two from Delhi and one from Kerala. All three individuals were elderly and had pre-existing chronic health conditions like kidney disease and acute rheumatoid arthritis.
While the overall national trend remains encouraging, health authorities continue to monitor localised outbreaks, driven in part by emerging subvariants such as LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and the newly detected NB.1.8.1.
The authorities have also advised people to adopt Covid norms like wearing masks in crowded areas and maintaining hygiene and focusing on immunity.
