Another Air India Boeing 787 faces technical issue, returns to Hong Kong

New Delhi, June 16 (UNI) In yet another incident involving an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, flight AI 315 from Hong Kong to Delhi was forced to return to its origin shortly after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue.
This comes just four days after a devastating crash involving a Dreamliner on the Ahmedabad–London route.
According to sources, flight AI 315 departed from Hong Kong at 11:59 PM (local time) Sunday night—delayed by three hours and nine minutes. Soon after takeoff, the pilot suspected a technical anomaly. In response, the pilot kept the aircraft flying over the sea for some time, and when the issue could not be resolved, he decided to return.
The aircraft returned to its original location—Hong Kong Airport—approximately one hour and 19 minutes later. It landed at 1:18 AM local time, where it will undergo a thorough technical inspection, sources said.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a tragic crash on June 12, in which an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff.
The aircraft collided with the BJ Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, killing 241 of the 242 people on board. The deceased included 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The sole survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh—a British national of Indian origin—is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.
