Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) A Sessions Court in Mumbai on Friday awarded the death penalty to Parvez Tak, who was accused of sensationally killing his step-daughter and actress Laila Khan, her mother, three siblings, and a cousin sister in 2011.
Tak, a resident of Kashmir and the third husband of Khan's mother, Shelina, was arrested on July 8, 2012. Fourteen years after the murders, the court found him guilty on May 9 for killing Laila, 30, her elder sister Azmina, 32, twin siblings Zara and Imran, 25, cousin Reshma, and Shelina, 51.
Additional Sessions Judge S. B. Pawar, while awarding the death penalty, held in its order that this is the rarest of the rare cases, hence the accused deserve the death penalty.
