Kobelco CE reiterates commitment to Make in India initiative

Chennai, Aug 7 (UNI) Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd, which
offers unique solutions involving earth movers and cranes for construction sites,
on Wednesday underlined its commitment to the Make in India initiative by
launching the ‘Made in India’ SK80 Excavator in Chennai.
The 8-ton category mid-segment excavator was unveiled by Takemichi Hirakawa,
Managing Director and CEO, Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd and
Moses Eddy – Director and Division Head, Kobelco Construction Equipment India
Pvt Ltd.
Talking to reporters this evening, Mr. Takemichi Hirakawa said, “We have been
delivering high quality excavators to meet the growing demands of the Indian
customers for the last 17 years.
"We have made considerable investments of about Rs 750 million in the recent past
and our latest product – SK80 Excavator – is a first major step towards indigenization.
With over 70% plus indigenization the SK80 exhibits a strong commitment of Kobelco’s
Make-in-India initiative", he said.
India is evolving as a major manufacturing base for Kobelco to not only meet the
domestic demands, but also to focus on ever growing opportunity for exports from
India, he added.
Kobelco Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Kobelco Construction
Machinery Co. Japan, produces excavators and cranes in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh
and is fully equipped to meet customer expectations in terms of service and parts with
over 140 outlets in India, Nepal and Bangladesh.
The newly-launched SK80 Excavator, equipped with Yanmar engine, boasts of several
innovative features like superior technology, advanced hydraulic system, fuel efficiency,
operator comfort, durability, maintenance and versatility which set it apart from its
competitors and underlines its commitment to sustainability.
Coming with a range of attachments, the SK80 Excavator can be easily adapted to
perform a variety of tasks – be it digging, lifting or grading.
