Justice Manmohan takes oath as Supreme Court Judge

New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) Justice Manmohan, former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court of India on Thursday, with Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna administering the oath of office.
The ceremony took place in the presence of other sitting judges of the Supreme Court.
Justice Manmohan will join the CJI's bench, contributing to some of the most significant cases before the apex court.
Born on December 17, 1962, Justice Manmohan completed his LLB from Delhi’s Campus Law Centre in 1987. He began his legal career the same year, practicing in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court.
He was designated Senior Advocate in 2003 and appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court in 2008. He became a permanent judge in 2009 and served as Acting Chief Justice in September 2023 before becoming chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in 2024.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended his elevation on November 28, and the Central government approved it on December 3. With Justice Manmohan's induction, the Supreme Court now functions with 33 judges, one short of its sanctioned strength of 34.
At his farewell from the Delhi High Court, on Wednesday Justice Manmohan reflected on his judicial philosophy, stating, “The real strength of any judicial system lies in the public faith it enjoys. As a judge, I have always strived to uphold this trust.”
Justice Manmohan’s extensive experience and commitment to justice are expected to bring valuable insights to the apex court.
