Jammu reports over 5K dengue cases

Jammu, Nov 6 (UNI) The Jammu Province of the Union Territory has reported more than 5000 cases of the mosquito borne-viral dengue so far this year, with the highest number of positive cases reported alone in the Jammu district.
Official sources in the Health Department said that nearly 5006 positive cases of dengue were reported in the parts of Jammu Province, but the highest numbers of cases were registered in the Jammu district.
As per the official data, they said that the Jammu district has reported 3,156 dengue cases, followed by Samba with 539, Kathua with 473, Udhampur with 257, Reasi with 214, Rajouri with 125, Doda with 117, Poonch with 59, Ramban with 47, and 19 from Kishtwar district.
“The cases may be rising, but the situation is under control. So far, 27,809 tests have been conducted, out of which 5,009 tested positive in the Jammu region. Last year in this period, 38,331 tests were conducted, out of which 5,269 tested positive,” said official sources.
Out of the 5,009 positive cases, 425 were admitted to hospitals, and among them, 335 have been discharged while others are under treatment, and one of the patients has succumbed to the infection, they added.
“The public is advised to take preventive measures as there is no vaccine for dengue, but proactive prevention is essential while authorities are implementing effective measures to contain dengue while vigilance is necessary and there is no need to panic,” they said.
He revealed the common symptoms of dengue that include fever, headache, eye pain, muscle, joint, or bone pain, rash, nausea, and vomiting.
