WTP of "Mission Raniganj" on Zee Cinema

New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) Zee Cinema is set to premiere "Mission Raniganj," a gripping film that brings to life the extraordinary heroism of Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in 1989. The premiere is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd, at 8 p.m.

"Mission Raniganj" stars Akshay Kumar as Jaswant Singh Gill, depicting his unwavering determination and bravery during the real-life rescue mission. Gill's innovative use of a specially crafted rescue capsule highlights a pivotal moment in Indian history, paying tribute to a true hero.

The film resonates deeply with recent events, such as the 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel collapse. On November 12, 2023, the collapse of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel trapped 41 construction workers. After 17 days of relentless efforts led by Australian rescue expert Arnold Dix and a team of rat-hole miners, all workers were rescued. This incident, much like the story of "Mission Raniganj," showcases human resilience and courage under life-threatening conditions.

Akshay Kumar expressed his pride in bringing the story to television audiences: "This movie pays tribute to the unsung heroes who truly believe in the greater good, the people who don't care about their lives when it comes to saving others. We want people to know Capsule Gill and his story. Being part of this film has made me realise how these stories have the ability to uplift, inspire, and bring people together."
