Efforts underway to bolster voter enrolment among PwDs in Mizoram

Aizawl, June 15 (UNI) The Mizoram State Steering Committee on Accessible Elections (SSCAE) has resolved to intensify efforts to identify and enrol persons with disabilities (PwDs) who are eligible but remain unregistered in the electoral rolls.
The SSCAE, formed in line with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) mandate to promote inclusive elections, aims to enhance the participation of PwDs in the democratic process and ensure they are provided with necessary amenities while exercising their voting rights.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the arrangements made for PwDs during the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. It also discussed the challenges faced by disabled voters and the scope for improvement in future elections.
