BJP MLAs stage walkout in West Bengal Assembly

BJP MLAs stage walkout in West Bengal Assembly

Kolkata, Nov 29 (UNI) The BJP legislators headed by the leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Friday staged a walkout after Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected their motion to discuss alleged attacks on religious places during the recent puja.
The en masse walkout of the BJP lawmakers happened when the Speake did not allow Adhikari to raise an adjournment motion on the alleged attacks during pujas in the state.
The Speaker ruled that the issue was discussed on Thursday and could not be opened for debate again.
As the BJP legislators attempted to raise the alleged attacks, the Speaker turned down the motion and said the matter had already been discussed the day before and there was no need for a separate adjournment motion.
The BJP MLAs immediately shouted slogans against the Speaker and staged a walkout in the Assembly.
Later, Nandigram MLA Suvendu Adhikari alleged the Speaker was misleading them and claimed the matter was not at all discussed in the Assembly. UNI PC SSP
