Shimla, May 24 (UNI) A BJP candidate in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly by-election and an independent MLA on Friday filed a Rs 1.05 crore damage suit against state Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in the high court.
Acting on the suit, the Himachal Pradesh High Court issued a notice to Sukhu after a hearing. The defamation suit was filed by Devinder Kumar, also known as Devinder Bhuto, a former Congress member now with the BJP, and an independent MLAs, Hoshiyar Singh.
The matter was heard by a bench comprising Judge Jyotsna Rewal Dua. The plaintiffs alleged the Chief Minister referred to them as "sold MLAs" in a political meeting, which they argue damaged their public image and standing.
