Assault, abuse of CRPF constable: Police incorporate SC/ST Act sections

Chandigarh, Mar 19 (UNI) After the intervention of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission (PSSCC) Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi, the police have incorporated sections of the SC/ST Act in a case involving the assault and casteist abuse of a CRPF constable by cops in Amritsar.
According to a spokesperson of the Commission, the action was taken in response to a written complaint submitted by Parminder Kaur wife of Bhushan Kumar of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar.
In her complaint, she alleged that her husband, a CRPF constable, was unjustifiably beaten by ASI Jaswinder Singh and Havildar Baljinder Singh, who also hurled casteist insults at him. Despite filing a complaint at the police station, authorities had registered a cross-case against Bhushan Kumar himself.
