Assam CM visits wetland cleared of encroachment, says govt strict on the issue

Guwahati, June 24 (UNI) Iterating his stand against illegal encroachment, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the government has recently cleared six square kms land from 7,000 illegal encroachers at Hahila Beel.
The Chief Minister's visit to Hahila Beel came days after the district administration carried out an eviction drive in the wetland removing illegal encroachment.
"I am welcomed at Hahila Beel today by family members of those evicted. This happened because they also know that there is only one priority for our government 'Assam First'," said Sarma on his X handle.
