All-party meeting: Leaders back govt's action on Pakistan after Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Leaders of all the political parties on Thursday came together in a show of solidarity and unanimously supported the action taken by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) with regard to Pakistan, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam which claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
The Government had convened an all-party meeting, which was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
All the leaders present in the meeting also unanimously expressed support for any future action the government would take to fight against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, Kiren Rijiju, JP Nadda, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party's Ram Gopal Yadav, Sudip Bandopadyay of TMC, BJD's Sasmit Patra, Supriya Sule of NCP-SP, AAP’s Sanjay Singh among others.
Talking to media after the conclusion of the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "All leaders have in unanimous voice supported the action taken by the CCS with regards to Pakistan and also unanimously expressed support for any future action the government would take to fight against terrorism."
He said that the government has already explained to floor leaders that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government will adopt zero tolerance towards the terror activities in the country".
"All the political leaders have expressed their solidarity with the government for all the action that the government is taking and the government would take in the future," Rijiju said.
The Minister said some leaders sought clarifications which were addressed by seniors officials with their presentations.
He said a two-minute silence was also observed to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the heinous terror attack.
Meanwhile, Mallikarjun Kharge after the meeting said, "We all strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. It is very important to establish peace in Jammu and Kashmir, for which the government will have to make serious efforts."
Rahul Gandhi said that all the parties condemned the terrorist attack. "The Opposition has given full support to the government for any action", he said.
